I've read all the comments from both posts.

It seems to me that there is wide agreement that there is space on chain for both HUG and HUGS.

I suggest some creative brainstorming to find a good way to distinguish one from the other. Most likely either the same bot could be used to deliver both tokens, with different criteria for each, or a slightly different clone of the hug.bot could be used to distribute HUGS.

Would have be nice if HUGS team had reached out and communicated, maybe shared some more info with Hannes, then there would definitely have been scope for some collaboration, all seems to be a shitstorm in a teacup right now...

Hannes's project was for learning and development, seems hugs (from what I can make out) were trying to make a financial product out of their token. There is no reason both couldn't coincide, I've not spoken with Hannes this morning but seems snook sent over the HUGS stuff...so not sure where that leaves everything...\

Hopefully one of the Hug(s) tokens can move forward, was such a lovely gesture to leave a Hug on posts, especially on Hive where there are a lot of personal posts and some people really need a hug once in a while!

Thank you for the suggestion.
At the moment hug.bot will continue as is. I do not want it to be any competition to any other project or token. Always open to any form of coexistence.
