Wilson Domingues
Wilson Domingues - a skater since I was young. I’ve been riding on Praça XV in Brazil to skate since 1997. Having always been very active and full of ideas, I became a graphic artist, designer and videographer. I’ve owned a shirt brand. A friend and I founded the “Zerovinteum” collective which made the first ever street skate video in Rio, “RSRJ” 50min., 2001. A second video, with documentary language, is “Sangue e Suor” (Blood and Sweat) 40 min. released in 2007.
In 2011, together with other members of the “Coletivo XV”, after 4 years of awareness, we managed to legalize the practice of skating at Praça XV which had been illegal and marginalized since 1999. Currently, we develop events with the local community spreading art and culture.
I contribute creatively to productions at ONErpm Studios, and 2 years ago contributed NAVI Audiovisual Nucleus at Circo Voador - a historical music venue in Rio, known predominantly for its promotion of independent bands. With my own enterprise since 2010 "Wilbor Studio”, I’ve developed graphics and videos for the fashion, music, tv, skateboarding and motion pictures industries.
I develop my very own personal artwork through different techniques using skateboarding decks as woodcut matrices and mixed media such as prints, video projection, collage, mural painting. I have made many exhibitions and screenings in Brazil and other countries like Germany, Holland, Romenia, China and the USA. For me, skating and music is a source of inspiration and a vast field open to experimenting in areas such as aesthetics and self expression - both physical and metaphysical.
